Paper Cranes and Origami
Michael and Melissa were married at the Harvard Charles Hotel, a luxury hotel which has welcomed celebrities and scholars alike. Michael and Melissa’s wedding felt equally grand. Melissa wore a lace gown with sheer sleeves and a scalloped neckline. The bridesmaids wore navy blue dresses that complemented the vibrant orange and yellow flower bouquets – a perfect composition for an October wedding. Melissa incorporated hints of blue into her bouquet to tie the colors of the bridal party together. The couple decided to do a first look prior to the ceremony. This is a great decision in order to alleviate stress and have this moment as intimate as possible. The groom’s father officiated the ceremony, making this an even more meaningful event. They had their own vows, and Melissa got very emotional saying hers.
Michael and Melissa met while attending Northeastern University in Boston. Since she enjoys Japanese culture and anime, they incorporated the Japanese themes into the wedding. They had origami throughout the ceremony and reception, and the wedding programs had their images as anime’ized. Michael had proposed to Melissa at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts Japanese Garden, so the theme continued into the wedding.
The reception at the Harvard Charles Hotel was full of excitement and joy, after such a serious and emotional ceremony. In lieu of standard candy stations, the couple opted for a popcorn station: guests could fill up goody bags from a selection of popcorn buckets, with flavors varying from cookies and cream to southwest jalapeno.
