Gina and Johnathan’s courtship has been a decade in the making. When they decided to tie the knot, it was at the beautiful Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster, Cape Cod, and made for a quintessential Cape Cod wedding. The ocean only a quick walk away provided a stunning backdrop. The night before, we had done the rehearsal dinner photography by the water with sparklers. That evening was very sandy and rainy, and the forecast for the wedding day loomed just as gray. Fortunately, the clouds abated in time and we were left with beautiful blue skies – and a very hot August day.
Getting Ready
The bride wore a robe with a garden-blooming pattern and the bridesmaids wore complementary blush-toned robes. We’ve done many weddings, and this perhaps is the first time the room was as organized and clean as we had ever seen. The makeup and hair was also the most efficient we’ve seen – the makeup and hair were done simultaneously! Walking into the room, you couldn’t feel anything but a palpable excitement and the warm welcome from all the girls.
The guys were relaxed and playing games awaiting to get ready. Cornholes were set up outside the room and the guys were taking turns tossing beanbags into it. Beer was on hand. So was champagne, for what we hoped would be an iconic group photo of the uncorking of the champagne bottle and the ensuing explosion. Nope, it was quite a let-down. But at least, one more bottle was open for consumption.
Cape Cod Wedding Photos on the Beach
Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club is conveniently located near the Bay Pines Beach. Gina and Johnathan wanted to have their first look at the beach and then the formal pictures with the entire bridal party. So after the long wait for the reveal, the entire bridal party joined them.
This bridal party was fun and up for anything.
– Jump! How high?
– Throw the groom up in the air!
– Let’s play some football!
Outdoor Ceremony
The beautiful arched tree framed the backdrop for the ceremony and the walk down the aisle was filled with fun moments – their beloved dog escorted by the flower girl and the four young ring bearers haphazardly making their way to Johnathan.
At the reception, the head table was a long rectangular table with a floral runner filled with greenery and roses and accented by candles. They draped fabric from the ceiling to provide a romantic setting. A table was set up featuring the bride and groom’s family photos and goody bags for guests to fill up with salt-water taffies, local to Cape Cod.
